The Shamrock Difference – Real World Experience
We come from a mindset of experience – experience starting companies, working within budget constraints, creating products and brands from scratch, and delivering services that are aimed at increasing sales. Unlike many marketing companies who sit around conference tables “brainstorming” – we’ve actually lived it, just like you.
The Birth of The Shamrock Group
As former small business owners, we found ourselves spending more time working on creative, marketing and sales support materials than running our business. And truth be told, we liked it! When sales soared and business associates started asking us for help with their sales/marketing materials, we realized there was a real need for a marketing company focused solely on small business owners and sales professionals.
The Name
The Shamrock Group name was born after many hours of intense discussion and maybe a couple pints of beer. We figured that is how the Irish would get their creative juices flowing. Loving the shamrock name, the corresponding research and its meaning sealed the deal.
The shamrock is a sacred plant in Ireland because its leaves form a triad. Three is Ireland's most sacred and magical number. Everything good in Ireland comes in three’s. For example the rhythm of story telling in the Irish tradition is based on threefold repetition. This achieves both intensification and exaggeration. Even today in quality pub talk, a raconteur can rarely resist a third adjective, especially if it means stretching a point.
Since The Shamrock Group revolves around our three core services that we feel are sacred and magical in today’s competitive business world, the name was a perfect fit!
The Logo
So the first question we usually get is “Why is there no Shamrock in your logo, isn’t that the obvious choice?” Well in this case we felt being remarkable should not include the obvious choice! So we spent a lot of time researching and creating our own image to ensure it was innovative and unique yet related to our desired shamrock name, its meaning and its mystical Irish roots.
The Shamrock Group logo is based off Ogham (Old Irish Ogam) which is an early medieval alphabet used primarily to represent Gaelic languages. Each letter is named after a tree or other plant and has a number of other associations. Letters are linked together by a solid line, which represents the trunk of a tree, while the letters themselves represent branches or twigs. Ogham was usually written vertically (bottom to top) in inscriptions and horizontally (left to right) in manuscripts.
The three Ogham letters used in The Shamrock Group logo from bottom to top spell out the initials CMS which if you haven’t guessed by now stand for our three core services: Create-Market-Sell!
